A low-key trip to Bantayan

When I first heard of the movie Camp Sawi (Camp for the Broken-Hearted), I felt so curious about it. But when I discover the movie's location, I realized that there are so many ways to enjoy the island that's far from the heart of the city.

Two years ago, we went to Cebu not to explore the city but to explore the island of Bantayan. We left Quezon at midnight to catch the 5 am flight. We arrived at the Mactan-Cebu airport at 6 and ate breakfast at the van terminal. The road trip took three hours before we reached the port. We waited for an hour before we board the ship to the island.

It was not a typical day for the ship to sail because of the inclement weather. It felt more like tossing into the strong waves and rocking by the winds. After almost two hours, we safely reached the island. Heavy rains greeted us, but we were able to find a small lodge to stay for the next three days.

And to conclude our first day, my friend and I went for a walk along the beach, took pictures and enjoyed the sunset. We went to the food park to eat dinner while sharing some interesting stories.

Day two of the expedition and we're all set to discover more of Bantayan's hidden treasures. We started by eating breakfast at Panyang's Restaurant and had a long walk by the beach. We hired two tricycles to get to our first destination: Ogtong Cave. This hidden gem attracts a lot of swimmers and thrill-seekers, thanks to the clear waters and a picturesque view. I enjoyed swimming there, although I got a small wound on my right foot after I accidentally stepped on a sharp edge of a rock. After that, we spent an hour swimming in the nearby pool while enjoying the view of the beach.

We moved on to our next stop: the Obo-ob Mangrove Sanctuary. The place is a protected area where one can find different species of mangroves. We were greeted warmly by the locals there, and they were very friendly. We were able to go around the place by walking on the bamboo bridges while taking pictures. We also got the chance to see the iconic arch of Camp Sawi, as well as we enjoyed the foods there.

It's our third and last day on the island, and we can't wait to explore another island - the Virgin island. It was a perfect day for us to visit there. We hired a motorboat to sail through the island. To our surprise, Virgin island looks like a real paradise! The white sand, the waves, and a spectacular view made the island more attractive!

To end our last day, we decided to buy some barbecue and bottles of beer to celebrate. We packed our bags and spent a few hours of selfies and laughter before we leave Bantayan the next morning.

Alas, our warm smiles turned into frowns as we left the island after sunrise. We reached Cebu City at almost 6 pm, and we decided to go malling while waiting for our midnight flight. As we are boarding on the plane bound for Manila, our minds are slowly processed, telling us to go back into basics.

Until we meet again, Bantayan! See you soon!

Mashin Sentai Kiramager: The Super Sentai Series That Made Me Shine

Sparkling vehicles that can talk, a modest princess from the planet of crystals, and a junior high school student's leadership - there's more than these things that I love from the Super Sentai Series' 44th entry, Mashin Sentai Kiramager. The first time I discovered about that series was the ending credits' dance that unexpectedly showed up on YouTube. Titled "Kiraful Miracle Kiramager", five young individuals dressed in Magiranger-inspired uniforms were dancing onstage. The vocals provided by Takashi Deguchi and the music itself are so lively and dynamic. But that didn't stop there. I researched the show thoroughly and paid close attention to the characters and the plot. My curiosity pushed me to watch all the 45 episodes and some movies, as well as to listen to their songs and background music.  Well, to be honest with you, I felt sick and tired of doing the same old stuff in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. I want to explore and do new things to keep...

A letter to my 24-year-old self

Dear 24-year-old self, How are you? I bet you had a great time yesterday. You only have a year to go before you celebrate the first quarter of your life. But before you turn a year older, I have seen your successes and failures. You got a Master's degree from the university. You traveled to Iloilo, Ilocos Region, Negros Oriental, and Baguio City. You met Senator Grace Poe for the fourth time. You got a new job. You got two new tattoos. You passed the English for Kids and Top Tutor Training. You got your highest salary for July. You were able to keep the money on your own. However, you tend to delay things that needed immediate attention. You tend to give up easily, although the problem is too easy to solve and to understand. You tend to be easily irritated if someone intimidates you. You tend to be impatient when it comes to buying things, especially those you do not need. You tend to waste time on your smartphone and not focusing on your mom's tasks ...
