Conquering the City of Love

At first, I knew Iloilo as the hometown of my idol, Senator Grace Poe. But when I visit the province for the first time, I felt surprised not because of the well-preserved places but also felt the happy atmosphere there.

We landed on the Iloilo International Airport in September last year. It was a swift flight, and I enjoyed the sights so much. We were greeted by the Zapanta couple, who used to be my mother's friends a few minutes after.

We had a sumptuous meal at Ondoy's Sugbahan and took the chance to stroll in the famous Festival Walk. We bought a few souvenirs from a nearby mall shortly after. Minutes later, we stopped by an exhibit full of different lights and concepts, followed by taking a few selfies and light laughter. We were able to stay at their house in the city proper for the next few days.

The second day of the expedition began with a Sunday mass at the Jaro Cathedral before heading on for a three-hour ride to Anini-y Hot Springs. The cathedral's font is the exact place where Senator Grace, was found as an infant. It is also my first time to hear the mass in Ilonggo.

We endured the road before we reached the hot springs. We had a picnic there, enjoying the majestic view of the seafront. I also enjoyed swimming in a large pool, although the water is not so hot. We left Anini-y for Garin Pilgrimage Farm as our next stop.

We reached the farm an hour before the closing time. Fortunately, we were able to visit the iconic Stations of the Cross, as well as the peak where we saw the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We were so amazed by the breathtaking view of the whole farm.

To begin our third-day stay, we ate steamed rice cakes and Molo soup at the Molo Mansion. It was also my first time to taste an ice cream flavored with Blue Ternate flowers.

Then, we stopped by the Iloilo Fish Port to meet with my godfather while having a coffee break. We met other co-workers and took pictures with them after. We ate at a nearby restaurant while exchanging a few stories.

We bought a few clothes at the thrift shop and ate steamed buns and meatballs at Roberto's before we packed our bags for the departure tomorrow morning.

And to conclude the expedition, we dropped by a public market to savor the authentic La Paz Batchoy before heading back to the airport. Although we experienced small turbulence during the flight, I felt very happy because my birthday wish came true.

I am very thankful to the Zapanta couple for letting us stay in their cozy home, as well as their warm hospitality. I am looking forward to more fun-filled adventures in the city of love! Iloilo will be in my heart POErever!

8 Things That I've Learned In 2020

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." - Charles Dickens, "A Tale of Two Cities" 2020 - A year full of the best and the worst of times. Living in a new location amid the pandemic was not a bed of roses for me and my mom. A few days before placing the entire Luzon under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), something unexpected happened. One of my uncles was rushed to the hospital due to heavy breathing. Originally, we planned to move on to a new location a few days before my mother's birthday. However, we left Quezon on the tenth day of March - bringing only a few bags full of clothes and other household stuff.  Then, the ECQ happened. During that time, I need to go out in a face mask and wearing a special quarantine pass. Also, the mode of transportation became very limited. Fortunately, there are some stores near my house where I can buy some food and drink. My relatives and the town officials gave me some food and drink for free. Most of a

Mashin Sentai Kiramager: The Super Sentai Series That Made Me Shine

Sparkling vehicles that can talk, a modest princess from the planet of crystals, and a junior high school student's leadership - there's more than these things that I love from the Super Sentai Series' 44th entry, Mashin Sentai Kiramager. The first time I discovered about that series was the ending credits' dance that unexpectedly showed up on YouTube. Titled "Kiraful Miracle Kiramager", five young individuals dressed in Magiranger-inspired uniforms were dancing onstage. The vocals provided by Takashi Deguchi and the music itself are so lively and dynamic. But that didn't stop there. I researched the show thoroughly and paid close attention to the characters and the plot. My curiosity pushed me to watch all the 45 episodes and some movies, as well as to listen to their songs and background music.  Well, to be honest with you, I felt sick and tired of doing the same old stuff in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. I want to explore and do new things to keep
